All of us at the Readio Network believe strongly in the transformational power of books and the huge impact they can have on the lives of families and children. Our hope is that the powerful technology we have built into Readio is transparent to our users and simply provides readers with the right level of support and motivation they need as they journey through the world of books.
Readio helps motivate young readers by providing unique opportunities for performance and sharing. For many kids starting to read the idea of reading aloud is a frightening one, fraught with the peril of embarrassment and failure. Readio plays the role of a concerned listener, providing opportunities for independent low stakes practice, while they get their reading legs.
It also provides unique opportunities for users to listen to themselves reading. For kids the act of hearing themselves can be a powerful learning moment. They hear their own voices and become keenly aware of their strengths and weaknesses – something that many kids will have never experienced before.
The Readio Pioneer Program is designed to solicit feedback on the Readio service. As we move towards a launch of a full commercial service in 2007 we are looking for feedback from real users on how to improve the service.
Families selected to participate in the Pioneer program will be bale to use Readio free of charge during the time the program is running. In addition we will be offering all participants who complete the program a complementary six-month subscription to the Readio service once it is commercially released.
